Refreshing Coconut Matcha

If you’re a Matcha enthusiast (Matcha, traditional Japanese powdered green tea), you gotta try the coconut matcha twist. This blend of matcha and coconut is a refreshing and energizing drink that’s perfect for any time of day (especially in the humid weather in southeast Asia, Singapore). The earthy flavour of matcha combined with the creamy sweetness of coconut is a match made in heaven. Trust us, you won’t regret trying this unique and delicious beverage.

What is Coconut Matcha?

Coconut matcha is a blend of matcha powder and coconut milk or coconut water. Matcha is made by grinding green tea leaves into a fine powder, which is then whisked with hot water to create a frothy beverage. Coconut milk, on the other hand, is made by blending the meat of fresh coconuts with water and straining out the solids. Coconut water is the clear liquid inside young green coconuts and is a popular hydrating beverage.

Together, these two ingredients create a unique flavour that’s both rich and refreshing. The combination of matcha’s grassy, slightly bitter taste and coconut’s creamy sweetness is a match made in heaven. And, the added benefits of both ingredients make this a drink that’s not only delicious but also great for your health.

Health Benefits of Coconut + Matcha

Coconut water, on the other hand, is a natural electrolyte that can help rehydrate the body after exercise or in hot weather. It’s also low in calories and sugar, making it a great alternative to sugary sports drinks or sodas.

Matcha is packed with antioxidants called catechins, which have been shown to help protect against various diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and mental clarity.

How to Make Coconut Matcha

To make coconut matcha, start by heating coconut milk or coconut water in a small saucepan over medium heat until it’s hot but not boiling. Then, whisk in a teaspoon of matcha powder until it’s fully dissolved and frothy. If you prefer your drink sweeter, you can add a bit of honey or maple syrup to taste.

Alternatively, you can use a milk frother or blender to create an even creamier, frothier drink. Simply blend the hot coconut milk or water with the matcha powder and sweetener of your choice until it’s smooth and frothy.

Coconut matcha is a delicious and nutritious drink that’s easy to make at home. Whether you’re looking for a caffeine boost, a hydrating beverage, or just a tasty treat, this unique blend is sure to hit the spot. So why not give it a try and experience the perfect blend of health and taste?

xoxo, Joe
