Cafe Explorer: Round Boy Roasters

I previously mentioned the burgeoning hipster café scene in Bukit Merah and Redhill areas, exemplified by popular spots like Alchemist at The Mill and Maison Sucree at Lengkok Bahru. Round Boy Roasters, while not entirely new to coffee enthusiasts, has recently transformed with an expanded café concept.

Nestled discreetly beneath a residential block at Block 146 Jalan Bukit Merah (in proximity to Good Chance Popiah), this café evokes a reminiscent charm akin to other hidden gems such as Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee at Stirling Road, Nylon Coffee Roasters at Everton Park, and Coffee Plus at Queen’s Road.

What initially began as a reliance on caffeine to power through the daily routine gradually blossomed into a genuine love and appreciation for coffee.

Inspired by this newfound passion, the team of coffee enthusiasts, fondly known as the “round boys,” took the leap to share their freshly roasted coffee with a wider audience. Their shop boasts an extensive selection of beans catering to various tastes, spanning from filter coffee to meticulously crafted roasts. These offerings are conveniently showcased on their website and available for purchase both online and in-store.

Moreover, the shop is adorned with an array of coffee machines, equipment, and accessories, catering to the interests of budding home baristas. For those eager to delve deeper into the world of coffee, the shop also hosts workshops aimed at imparting knowledge and skills to enthusiasts.

The coffee menu features a variety of options, including the Espresso ($3.50, $4), Long Black ($4.50), Milk Based ($5), Filter ($7), and Batch Brew of The Day ($4).

One notable offering is the Flat White ($5), crafted using “double chocolate beans” known for their robust and intense flavor profile. This results in a coffee experience that’s richer and darker than anticipated, leaving a lingering taste sensation that some may particularly enjoy.
